When will Raad be available?
Raad is currently in testing and will be available soon on the App Store and Google Play. Want to try it early? Email us at ahm3dev@gmail.com with your device type and we will add you to the test group. This page will be updated with download links once it ships.
Why does Raad need location permission?
Speed is measured from GPS, so the app needs location access while you use it. Everything is processed on your device, and your location is never stored or uploaded.
What is the camera tolerance?
Speed cameras in Saudi Arabia catch you only when you are more than 10 km/h over the posted limit, except on 140 km/h roads where the margin is 5 km/h. With the threshold setting on, Raad alerts you only past that capture speed, and the band between the posted limit and the threshold shows in amber. You can edit both margins or turn the rule off to alert at the posted limit.
Will I hear the alert if my phone is on silent?
Yes. The alert sound plays even with the ringer on silent, and it ducks your music instead of stopping it. You can also switch to a haptics-only silent mode.
Does Raad work without internet?
Yes. Speed comes from GPS, which needs no internet. Only the optional map background needs a connection to load map tiles, and if you lose signal the speedometer keeps working.
What happens in tunnels or when GPS is lost?
Raad detects when the GPS signal is lost, such as in tunnels, and recovers automatically once the signal returns. It also handles denied permissions and disabled Location Services gracefully.
Can I add my own speed limits?
Yes. Besides the built-in road-sign buttons, you can add custom limits in Settings for the roads you drive regularly.
Does Raad drain the battery?
Raad keeps the screen awake while driving, which uses more battery than a locked phone, like any navigation app. Plugging the phone into the car charger is recommended for long drives.
Does Raad track me or collect my data?
No. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking. Your location and speed are processed on your device and never uploaded.
